V19 Te Haroto
Mountains, bush and pine forests. The mountains are the steep and wet kind, but not very tall, with bush growing right over the tops. Hardly anyone lives here. The largest settlement, Te Haroto, consists of a shop.
This place was in a mixed up bit of forest, where native plants coexisted with pine trees. Unfortunately this made it very dark and difficult to film. I spent a lot of time playing with the focus of shots, alternately putting the foreground and background in focus so every little thing in between would suddenly appear out of the blur, then disappear again. This is how the place is represented in the film, which is somewhat inadequate in showing how steep and dark and smelling of forest it was.
