Pelorus River
People only live beside the main road round here, not counting the city. Everything else is mountainous and bushy. Some parts have pine plantations. The ranges are distinct and enormous, but don't reach great heights because the valleys they grow out of are more or less at sea level.
Compared to most NZ bush (L30,V19,M27), this place is bright, clean and sunny. Tall healthy trees let dappled light illuminate a fern encrusted slope. Wasps are everywhere.
